The More Things Change...
...the more things change !!
I'm talking specifically about tBLOG. I've been posting here since October 2004. I have shared a great deal of myself and made some truly wonderful, faceless friends (and faceless refers to the fact I've never actually met them, face to face). I don't post very often anymore. There's really no specific reason I don't post, with the possible exception of laziness. But I do come around. Alot.
I'm sad to come here and see the multitude of 'spam' posting's. I know that the tBLOG guys have worked very hard (for little to no real revenue) to eliminate this particular scab on free websites like this, but they seem to be damn near unstoppable. While I don't like this, I haven't cancelled my account, I haven't stopped coming to read some excellent posts, no, I haven't done any of that. But I don't post that often...
I think back to when the hallowed halls of tBLOG were jam-packed of writing fury. Not all of it was of the 'excellent' writer caliber, but it certainly was entertaining! I remember a number of good "grudge matches" between some pretty forked-toungued (fingered? lol) bloggers, numerous character assainations, and a few hot and heavy romances! I remember a close-knit community that shared their lives with one another. I remember the heartaches and triumphs. I miss these.
Understand, the tBLOG family is still alive and well, and I for one am grateful! But it is different. And I just can't apply the old adage, "the more things change, the more they stay the same" to tBLOG anymore. Can you?
I love the concept of online blogging. I have no less than 15 blogs I read daily, religiously. I would love to have the dedicated following some of these bloggers have, but right now I just don't want the responsibilty. Another old adage comes to mind, "you can't have your cake and eat it too"!!
I have no plans to leave tBLOG. I would however like to have a more "spam-free" diet!
What do you think?

Happy Mothers Day Shannon. It did have a sort of family feel to it...and still they are like old friends who you can come back to after a while and check in and know that even though you haven't been good about keeping in touch, they still care. Sounds sappy but that has been my experience since I started in 2004. You have always been a bright spot and I'm glad to see you aren't going anywhere else. (I don't post much either and when I do it all feels like dribble anymore--laziness!) Take care and hope you have a wonderful day! Lori

Happy post Mother's Day!
I thought your blog reading level was the same as your posting level! I only subscribe to the blogs I want to keep up, and I think I am missing out on a lot of the newer blogs. But there are way too many spam blogs and other blogs written in non-English which I cannot understand!

That means so much Lori, thank you. I will never forget the night I stumbled upon your blog (I know I've said this a dozen times, lol) I couldn't stop reading--I was profoundly touched and have been ever since. Ok, I will stop the sappy stuff, 'cause you know all of it anyway, lol.

I have not been here all that long, but I enjoy the core family that hangs out here at tblog. I have tried to be an active and positive member here.
I have to admit the 'spam' stuff is very annoying and seems so unnecessary. Do they really think someone is going to sign up for a credit card or loan via an anonymous blog?
No matter how hard they try to ruin it, Tblog will make it through on the strength of the wonderful members of its real community.

ya think we could get a class action lawsuit against the spammers from carpal tunnel from having to hit the delete key over and over and over and over and over and over and over....

I know what you mean about spam ~ even the canned stuff it creepy ... I just remember my mom made a sandwich spread and what ever she put in made it somewhat palatable, but when I got older and saw what it was ~ I had second thoughts!
Yep, surr and PD are 'okay' ~ did you read squirrelzone's blog before the fireworks show post ~ PD swallowed hard and admitted he likes surr *hehehe
Actually 'everyone' likes surrogate ~ he is really nice! Seriously! But you know that ~ shuddup a/c (he's worked so hard to build his reputation) *grins

I to am sick of the spam, Nick use to have more time to police the place and we had far less.
I have made such wonderful friends on tblof free and you were one of the first to make me feel welcome. I am glad that you are not giving up on tblog because it would not be the same without you.

I was thinking of this very thing, earlier this morning. One solution that may work is to require a blogger, or one who is writing a comment, to enter a series of distorted characters. If these characters match, then you can post... if they don't match, you're probably a spamming robot and you're denied the right to post.
Question is... are people willing to take this extra step to help cut down on spam?

Grudge matches? One way I seek to avoid the spam is to ignore the "recent blogs" list.
By the way, I was seeking your blog. I did a search for "finally" and you did not come along. So, I searched "armpit" and you were # 1 on the list. I assume you still live in what you consider to be "the armpit of Tennessee"?

Pastor Dave, I'm flattered you'd remember I live in the armpit of East TN! While geographically this place is probably one of the best anywhere, otherwise it is a pit--a true, pit.

I haven't had a lot of problems with span.
I check on you frequently, hoping to find out how you're doing. I'm glad to hear you're not abandoning us.
Take care, okay?

I guess we are in a cycle, it comes and goes, just like you come and post, then take a break.
