Still Here

Well, pretty much the same old, same old around here.

Spent the weekend in Gatlinburg at the annual church youth retreat I've been chaperoning for years and years, I'm about to run out of teenagers! It makes me kind of sad to think about the near future when I won't have anyone to 'chaperone'.  I made the trip with the son and two step-sons, we had a great time but it was way cold, 10 degrees on Sunday morning!

The grandprince is sick :( He has a pretty nasty respiratory virus but is getting better quickly thanks to daily breathing treatments. I've been snapping pictures with the new camera like crazy but can't figure out how to get them off of the Media Center?? We're currently shopping for a new laptop so hopefully it will have a better program.

I guess this is pretty big news; I'm going back to school! The man started back and the 'higher education' bug bit me hard. I will be attempting to obtain a degree in Web Design and Layout. Starting out small focusing on an Associate's Degree after which I'll decide about going further.  I started thinking about my golden years and realized that given my health issues there very possibly could come a day when me working outside the home on any level might not be possible but I could most likely work from home and lets face it the age of web development and commerce isn't going anywhere, so it just seemed like a good choice. I'm very excited but also a little nervous as most of my classes will be through the Regents Online  courses.  I think I have the motivation but worry a little about the organization and discipline it will take. Time will tell.

I wish I were more motivated to write.  I miss the blog community but it seems like my 'real' life always throws a big wrench into the best laid plans. Oh who am I kidding, I've gotten lazy. There, I said it.

So, what's new with you?

My husband's ex wife is in town with her husband, and their son.  Her family lives here locally and frequently visits us, they invite us to every family function and even got us Christmas presents.  This is just damn weird to me.  I think it's great if ex's can remain civil to one another, but let's face it, it's just not natural to be "friends".... is it?

Tonight the ex and her immediate family dropped by for an impromptu discussion involving some property she and my husband still own.  This land has never been an issue for us as it's to be given to their children when they reach age 25.  Her mother has been living on the land for the last year and feels like she is entitled to a portion of it.  My husband is never going to agree to give her any of it, and they know that so they've resorted to trying to convince the boys to do it.  Idiots I tell ya, like those young men could convince my husband to do such a thing.

If you're sitting there shaking your head while reading this, welcome to my world!  I can't imagine my ex husband and his wife sitting on my sofa laughing and giggling with me and Tim! Oh God, I just can't fathom it.  My husband is just as stunned as I am.  But the rest of the clan, oh I imagine they think there's nothing wrong with this picture.  It's just twisted, twisted, twisted.

These little episodes don't happen very often, but every time they do I am left feeling like this.  Someone tell me, am I really the crazy one here?
